Abbotsford – Sumas Border Crossing

The Sumas-Abbotsford Border Crossing connects the cities of Sumas, Washington, and Abbotsford, British Columbia. It can be reached from British Columbia Highway 11 on the Canadian side and Washington State Route 9 on the American side. This border crossing can be much less crowded than all of the other ports in the area. It is nevertheless a major crossing point between Canada and the United States.

It has 2 truck lanes, 4 auto lanes southbound and 1 truck lane, 6 auto lanes. northbound. It has NEXUS lanes for verified travellers. The crossing is open 24/7. In addition to the road crossings there is also a rail crossing point. When I visited there was heavy snow and although I was able to see both border control facilities I was unable to find the border markers.
