The Lynden–Aldergrove Border Crossing connects the town of Lynden, Washington and Aldergrove, British Columbia on the Canada – United States border. Washington State Route 539 on the American side joins British Columbia Highway 13 on the Canadian side.
The Lynden / Aldergrove crossing is an alternative option to Peace Arch or Blaine crossing for general and commercial traffic. Entering the U.S. there are 3 lanes. 1 truck lane plus a NEXUS lane. Entering Canada there are 2 lanes plus one for slower moving traffic. 1 NEXUS lane.
In 1986, the U.S. port of entry was renamed the Kenneth G Ward Port of Entry in honour of Inspector Kenneth Ward, who was shot and killed while conducting an inspection at this crossing. It is still referred to as the Lynden port in many instances. Hours of operation: 8:00 am to midnight year round both directions, although there are current plans (January 2024) to increase to 24/7. The US side are planning an upgrade the facilities/buildings. There are duty free shops on both sides of the border. On the day of my visit, the weather was quite challenging with torrential rain. I visited this point as I travelled along 0 Avenue.
