The Astromerits/Zodhia border crossing is car only and is located in the west near Morphou/Güzelyurt. In order to use our southern Cyprus hire car we needed to buy mandatory TRNC third party insurance (35 EUR for a month). The buffer zone is wide at this point. Checks were quick and straightforward. There were no restrictions on photography in the south but there was in the north. A TRNC official asked for the memory card from the digital camera. This was refused but he insisted the photo of the crossing point be deleted. I visited this point as part of the IBRG CYBEX-24

Thank you for the information about the crossing! It’s good to hear that rental cars in South Cyprus can be taken over the border albeit with separate insurance.
We are passing a circular drive on Cyprus: Nicosia => Kyrenia => Troodos => Nicosia.
