CYUKUNe

With there being several constituent parts of the island of Cyprus there are a number of tripoints where 3 of them intersect. Only border enthusiasts would be interested in seeking them out, as they are unmarked and unremarkable. After visiting the Dhekelia Power Station we were close to where the Republic of Cyprus, The UK (in the form of SBA(E) and the UN buffer zone meet

The CYUKUNe tripoint is very close to the KKUKUNe however it was not possible to cross that far into the buffer zone. The photo below was the first indication we were getting close with us reaching the southern edge of the UN buffer zone. I visited this point as part of the IBRG CYBEX-24

Hunting for the tripoint

The border meets the north – south hedge row diagonally from the right.
The tripoint – I think!

A short journey into the buffer zone.

After the excitement of finding the most understated tripoint, we drove north into the UN Buffer Zone as far as we could. It was possible to get quite close to the northern edge of the zone until the warning signs and proximity to the TRNC OP meant it was necessary to turn round.
