Muggia – Premančan Border Crossing

The Italian town of Muggia has a number of small border crossings with neighbouring villages in Slovenia. This one is very small, and is interesting insofar as there are a number of border markers and in this case they follow the Italian property line east of the crossing. On the ground it is difficult to identify where exactly the border is.  There are additional local signs, including a 1m to the border (or town limits). I visited this point as part of the IBRG SITEX-23 expedition.

The border

Looking into Slovenia, note the change in road surface that marks the border. The concrete posts are to mark the edge of the road. The small road on the left is a drive to an Italian house.
Note the border marker on the right/the raised area, right of the wall is Slovenia, to the left is Italy.
Looking west along the border. Slovenian border sign and BM#85/89
The border here changes direction when it reaches the other side of the road. The car is in Slovenia, but the Caravan is in Italy.

Border markers

There were 3 border markers. 1 close to the road crossing point and 2 marker the edge of the Italian property to the east of the road.
