The port of Tangier Ville is on the western edge of the harbor and it’s situated on a bay between Cap Spartel and Cap Malabata, very close to Tangier’s center. It is both modern and efficient. The port in Tangiers is the departure point of the fast FRS ferry to Tarifa and is an important entry point to Spain and the EU. In recent years there has been a repurposing of Tangier Ville, with the opening of the huge port of Tangier Med 50km east along the coast. Freight traffic has moved there and Tangier Ville is for cars, foot passengers and increasingly cruise ships and leisure craft.
Security was tight with tickets and passports being checked 3 times at least.
