Grodzisko “Wały Jagiellońskie”

After our unsuccessful attempt to cross the border at the Zosin – Ustyluh Border Crossing we came across a hillfort just south of Horodło – a village in Poland located in the Lublin Voivodeship. In theory there should have been great views across the Bug valley east into Ukraine. In reality it was not possible to see through the dense vegetation; a single border marker provided the border interest. I visited this point as part of the IBRG EPTEX-24 trip.

Horodło was the site where the union between Poland and Lithuania was signed in 1413. The hillfort or earlier versions of it date from the 11th Century. It fell into disrepair in 1750.
