After the highlight of visiting the ATITSI tripoint there was enough time to visit some Italy – Slovenia border crossings before heading to our hotel. This was a new border for me and this crossing point had 2 major points of interest, the road crossing with its border markers, signage and redundant border architecture as well as a crossing point on the old railway line, now converted to a cycle path. Note to visitors, do not get in the way of cyclists here, they do not slow down and all seem to be training for the Olympics. I visited this point as part of the IBRG SITEX-23 expedition.

A. Road Border Crossing

The now redundant border architecture with its signage, booths and canapes still exist here on both sides of the border. Something I noticed on this border is the national EU country signs were covered in stickers, of community and sports associations. At the border there were historic markers as well as a monument marking the end of the SSN 54 Italian road.
The crossing point was popular with an equal number of cars going in each direction.

B. Cycle Path Crossing Point

The cycle path follows the former route of the railway line, which was closed in 1966. There are picnic benches and sculptures here as well as a pair of border markers. Once again the country sign was covered in stickers. Looking at the signs reminded me of which country I was standing in. The cycle route is officially called the Cycling Trail of Jure Robič, it is well known as the best, most famous and longest in Gorenjska. It is officially marked D-2.
