The port of Tarifa is the closest European port to North Africa and an important transport hub linking Spain to Morocco. The port in Tarifa is the departure point of the fast FRS ferry to Tangier and is an important entry/exit point to the EU. It also has ferry routes to Ceuta. It has a length of 25 metres, and depth of 50 metres. The port is well connected to the wider Spanish motorway network, and by bus to local and regional towns and cities.
As you enter the port you pass the Punta de Tarifa or Punta Marroquí which is the southernmost point of the Iberian Peninsula and Continental Europe.

Passport checks took a while as this is an external EU border, and the facilities had a tired feel to them. Tangiers was much more modern in comparison.
