The focus this month was to complete the individual POI reports coming from the 5 day IBRG ARTEX-24 expedition to Norway, Finland and Sweden last month. The focus was on all aspects of border visits, border crossings both open closed, border markers (many and varied) tripoint visits as well as unique POI’s such as a the most northern border crossing in the world or the most northerly tripoint. The IBRG DEDKEX-24 day trip to the Denmark- Germany border was also completed.

Looking forward to 2025 I put together 2 “missing” pages from my website collating the tripoints in 2 continents which I have yet to explore on border specific trips. I am hoping that I will get to visit some of them next year.

• The Polmak – Nuorgam border crossing is the most northern border crossing in the world and we travelled 2 hours each way to visit this point. It is also the most northern part of Finland and the EU. Details here.
• FINOSE Tripoint was one of the highlights of my recent trip, a boat trip in and long hike out with several supplementary border markers in the vicinity of the largest border cairn I have ever seen. Details here.
• The Kilpisjärvi (FI) – Skibotn (NO) border crossing is 10 km from Kilpisjärvi and is relatively remote. It is not without interest however being a time zone border and an EU border. Details here.
• DEDKEX-24 An IBRG day trip by the Danish contingent visiting well known border POI’s on the Danish – German border north of Flensburg. Details here.
