In 2012 I travelled in Ladakh and in this report got within 7km of the LOAC between India and Pakistan. Turtuk is geographically part of Baltistan and was part of Pakistan until 1971, its people are Muslim and culturally and linguistically very different from the Buddhist majority elsewhere in the territory.
