0 Avenue (Zero Avenue) is a road in the Lower Mainland, British Columbia, running beside the Canada – United States border from Surrey to Abbotsford. The road runs parallel to the physical border between the two countries. The road begins near the Peace Arch Border Crossing, and continues eastward for 28.9 kilometres with gaps around the Pacific Highway and Lynden–Aldergrove Border Crossings.

Moving east

Leaving the Peace Park and travelling east towards the Blaine border crossing. It was constant torrential rain at this point which limited the amount of photos I took. Whereas Canadian houses were close to the road, their US neighbours were set back.

After driving around the border control facilities to continue east along 0 Avenue the road became more rural with fewer houses on either side. The border was well marked with several border markers.

Lydon Aldergrove Border Crossing

0 Avenue reaches a dead end at the Lydon Aldergrove Border Crossing and it is necessary to turn north to travel around the border control buildings and facilities.  The dead end was however useful because it provided access to the border crossing and was a good place to take photos. My report on this border crossing is here or click on the photo below.

Moving east

After the Lydon – Aldergrove border crossing 0 Avenue runs parallel to East Boundary Road on the US side, there are many cameras on this stretch to prevent unofficial border crossings. 

End of 0 Avenue

Approximately 5 km before the Huntington – Sumas border crossing 0 Avenue ends and turns north and becomes Townline Road. The weather had become worse during the day and I was forced to spend less time exploring and taking photos than normal. I think however, I captured the essence of 0 Avenue.
