Hejlsminde

For most people driving across the bridge at Hejlsminde is an everyday occurrence which is instantly forgettable, with a pleasant Danish town with its beach facing the Baltic Sea on both sides of the bridge. Between 1864 and 1920 however this point was the eastern most point on the border between Denmark and Germany.

The historical significance of point is marked by historical border markers and information boards. In 1864 there was a ferry across the border.
