Vaals is a small city in the South Limburg region, in the Dutch province Limburg. It is located right on both the Dutch and German border, with the much larger German city of Aachen just across the border. Like many border towns, the border follows roads and rivers. In this instance Grensstraat is divided along the middle of the road, with small metal markers indicated where there border is. The border between Germany and the Netherlands was marked but of course traffic traveled freely across. I visited this border as part of the IBRG BELEX18 trip.

Different styles of border studs embedded in the street. Note the German eagle and Dutch Lion.

Simple N and D denotes the countries.
